ABOUT 300 staff and students of Universiti Teknologi Perak got their hands dirty to clean up Lambor Kanan in Perak Tengah that was hit by the floods last month.

Rubbish was strewn all along the road at Lambor Kanan and in its trenches due to the floods, and the volunteers went to the small town to help clear the area.

Armed with plastic bags and wearing gloves, the volunteers moved from one road to another to help clear the mess.

Joining them in the gotong-royong were the university’s vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Abdul Rahim Hashim who later presented aid in the form of hygiene products to flood victims at SMK Muzaffar Shah 1.

The university’s in-house clinic representative also gave a briefing to the victims at the school on the importance of hygiene after the floods.

This was to create awareness among the victims to prevent them from coming down with any illnesses.

The university began assisting flood victims at Perak Tengah since Dec 26 with the delivery of food items and daily necessities to them.
