SEVEN public parks in Petaling Jaya will get a new lease of life under the Petaling Jaya City Council upgrading project.
The parks are located at Jalan SS2/62, SS20/14, SS21/12, SS24/16, SS25/1, SS26/9 and SS4C/8.
“Petaling Jaya City Council(MBPJ) has allocated a budget of about RM950,000 for upgrading the seven parks," said Damansara Utama assemblyman Yeo Bee Yin.
The parks would be upgraded in stages over the next 12 months, starting with the weather beaten Jalan SS2/62 facility.
Yeo said there are 72 parks in her constituency but only seven would be upgraded under the budget.
The parks will be upgraded with new playground equipment, outdoor exercise equipment, walkways and underground drywell tanks to store rainwater. The drywell is to prevent the park from being flooded when it rains.
Tenders would be called to carry-out the upgrading work. Work at the park will start as soon as each of the projects are awarded by the city council.
MBPJ upgraded about eight parks last year.
