AMBANK Group continued its flood assistance programme to affected victims in Kelantan.
Its employees visited Kampung Pasir Era and Temangan areas, Kuala Krai and Kampung Laut and Kampung Limau Kasturi in Kelantan and distributed food and essential items to 500 families.
The convoy of 12 four-wheel drive vehicles as well as a bus-load of volunteers from Kelab AmBank Group (KAG) as well as five lorries filled with food and essential supplies departed from AmBank Group headquarters recently.
It was led by AmBank Group senior vice-president and head of Group Corporate Communications and Marketing Syed Anuar Syed Ali who is also the club’s president.
Among the items distributed to the flood victims in the four areas were drinking water, biscuits, instant noodles, clothes, toiletries, inner wear, portable stoves, telekung, prayer mat and disposable diapers.
The KAG volunteers numbering 100 people also cleaned SK Kampung Laut, Kota Baru before the start of the new school year on Jan 11.
AmBank Group chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim said the effort was in line with its tagline “Your Bank, Malaysia’s Bank, AmBank”
“We are sympathetic to the plight of our customers, staff and the public and decided to bring in more food and supplies to ease their burden.
“We are also looking into the welfare of our staff who are affected by the floods.
“This followed my visit recently where we delivered food and essential items to a total of 500 families in Kuala Krai and Kota Baru.
“While the floodwaters have subsided, aid is still needed as people recover.
“We have set up a team of volunteers who will be deployed to assist with the cleaning-up work,” he added.
Azman had earlier announced a contribution of RM1mil to Kampung Pasir Era, Kuala Krai, where half of the amount was his personal contribution and the balance from the AmBank Group.
At the same time, the Group also distributed food and essential items to 500 families in Kawasan Guchil Luar 7 and Kampung Pasir Era in Kuala Krai and Taman Sireh, Kampung Sireh and Kampung Badang in Kota Baru, Kelantan.
