POTHOLES measuring 0.3m in depth along two main roads in Rawang and Bukit Sentosa have not been patched up for months.
The potholes have formed on Jalan Bukit Sentosa 2 in Bukit Sentosa and Jalan Bunga Azalea Utama in Rawang.
Resident K.Y Chan said the potholes had damaged the absorbers of his car.
“These roads are filled with potholes over a few kilometres and there are very few streetlights.
“When there is a heavy downpour at night, the potholes cannot be seen making it very dangerous for motorcyclists.
“The Hulu Selangor District Council should repair basic infrastructure like roads for the safety of motorists.
“I have written to Hulu Selangor MP P. Kamalanathan and Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali more than two months ago but no action has been taken. “I hope the authorities will resurface these roads soon,’’ he said.
Bukit Beruntung Selangor Industrial branch chairman Datuk Lee Kai Weng said the badly maintained roads have also affected businesses.
They have led to the late delivery of goods and some even get damaged because of the state of the roads.
Bandar Bukit Beruntung Residents Welfare Association president Augustine Maria Dasan said the roads were death traps to motorcyclists.
“There have been many accidents but they mostly go unreported.
“The contractors appointed to patch up the potholes don’t do a good job,’’ he said.
MDHS Corporate Communication officer Junainah Abdullah said that a company has agreed to resurface the roads.
“We will patch up the potholes and repair streetlights within the next few weeks,’’ she said.
Junainah added that Jalan Bukit Sentosa 2 and Jalan Bunga Azalea Utama have not been handed over from the developer to the Public Works Department (JKR) as they did not meet JKR standards.
