Help for victims, including carmaker’s staff and dealers

Working as a team: Perodua has set aside RM400,000 for the victims of the floods in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.

PERODUA has sent about 100 staff to assist in the clean-up efforts and has set aside RM400,000 for the victims of the floods in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.

“We have sent 100 employees through our volunteer programme to assist in community-based projects nationwide,” said Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh.

Aminar added that Perodua had earlier sent a “scout team” to assess the situation and determine what items were most needed in the aftermath of the floods.

He said Perodua had set aside a budget of RM400,000 for victims of the flood.

So far, Perodua has spent RM90,000 of the RM400,000 to supply emergency rations to flood victims in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang via the National Security Council.

“The remaining RM310,000 will be utilised to help victims, particularly families with school-going children, buy essentials for the new school term, including our staff and dealers affected,” Aminar said.

He added that Perodua’s flood relief programme, which was introduced in 2011, was still in effect and offers a 20% discount on selected parts for the company’s vehicles damaged by the flood.

Aminar said Perodua would reimburse towing charges up to a maximum of RM100 to the nearest Perodua service outlet. There are 176 Perodua service outlets nationwide.

Aminar also visited Perodua staff and business partners who were affected by the flood.

Perodua’s customers whose vehicles were damaged can call 1800 88 6600 for assistance.
