PEKAN: Flood victims seeking temporary shelter at relief centres here received a pleasant surprise with the presence of a member of the royal family.
Tengku Arif Bendahara Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Abu Bakar paid the victims a visit and offered them words of comfort.
Accompanying him was Bebar assemblyman Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff.
Tengku Abdullah spent a few hours with the victims before presenting contributions to some 200 families to lessen their burden.
“I am deeply saddened with the people’s sufferings but we have to accept this as fate and challenge. In this difficult times, everyone must unite and help the affected victims to rebuild their lives again,” he said.
Tengku Abdullah, who is also chairman of Unitab Medic Sdn Bhd, called upon in-house doctors from Fomema to carry out medical check-up for victims at flood relief centres to prevent any spread of water-borne diseases.
