100 families receive mattresses and necessities

KUANTAN: Floods victims, poor and needy families got a respite as Kuantan MCA initiated a move to deliver some food stuff and basic amenities right in front of their doorsteps.

Led by division chief Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, some 100 families received mattresses and goodies bags purchased by Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) headquarters through its fund-raising activities nationwide.

The recipients here were mostly from Medan Warisan, Kampung Jawa, Kanpung Baru and its surroundings.

Accompanying Ti in distributing the items were Kuantan Wanita division chief Misty Tee Choon Ser, Kuantan councillor Ngoh Tian Meng and CRSM members and volunteers.

Ti said the efforts were initiated to help lessen the burden of the flood victims and other poor families.

He said together with volunteers from several transportation firms, they unloaded the items from the Kuantan depot before delivering them from house to house.

“Many of the recipients were touched and expressed their gratitude to CRSM and MCA for extending a helping hand.

“They also thanked all donors for their generous contributions in cash and kind, as well as volunteers for sacrificing their time and energy,” he said.

Ti said besides floods victims who have suffered much losses, they also decided to give out some assistance in kind to the needy.

He said MCA would take lead by helping less fortunate Malaysians from all walks of life.

“Our Kuantan CRSM were also deployed to assist other badly-hit districts in cleaning up efforts and distributing of relief aid,” he said.
