AS PART of its contributions for the east coast flood recovery efforts, the Selangor government is appealing for public donations of new school uniforms, bedding material and disinfectant.
This was announced by Selangor executive councillor for local government Ean Yong Hian Wah, after earlier attending the flag-off for a convoy of local council employees and youth volunteers heading to Kelantan to help with clean-up efforts.
“We are mobilising the various resident representation groups in our 12 local government areas to begin collecting such materials for flood victims in Kelantan,” said Ean Yong.
It is hoped, he added that the resident groups could collect up to RM1mil’s worth in either material, monetary donations or both.
“We are allocating about RM300,000 for new school uniforms, another RM500,000 for the bedding, and RM200,000 for the disinfectant chemicals and pump sprays,” said Subang Jaya (MPSJ) municipal councillor Loka Ng.
Material donations for the uniforms and bedding can be channelled through the Resident Committees (JKP), Residents Consultative Committees (JPP) or Residents Representation Councils (MPP) in their respective local council areas.
For monetary donations, the bank account number is 8002015201 (CIMB Bank), under “Jawatankuasa Penduduk MPSJ Zone 3”.
“We hope to distribute the supplies for the schoolchildren and households by Jan 17 and 18 in Kelantan,” said Selayang councillor Ng Wei Keong, who is among those participating in the recovery action plan.
