Couple and son win RM80,000 in furnishings and interior design advice for best family photo

THE first thing Quek Yong Yee and Cindy Tan want to get is a new sofa set for their home.

The couple and their son, Qaydan, emerged as the grand prize winners of the International Brands Gallery (IBG) Happy Family Photo Contest 2014, walking away with home furniture worth RM80,000 in value.

“We are a big family of 10 members, and we need the extra sitting room,” the couple, who are from Kepong, said. “Next, we want to get a better bed for our grandmother,” Tan said.

The three were among 10 other families who were present for the grand finale, where the panel of IBG judges and media members decided the top three placings.

The contest’s first and second runners-up were Hoo Sze Ting and Tan Sih Ping, who won RM50,000 and RM30,000 worth of home furniture, respectively.

“At IBG, we offer more than just furniture. We believe that quality furniture is part and parcel of having even more enjoyable family moments at home.

“This is what the contest is looking to get across,” said LSK Group Bhd managing director Eric Lee.

Lee said the grand prize also included the services of an interior designer.

“An interior designer is important to help with refurbishment plans. This will enable the family to choose the right items for a proper set-up and outstanding results,” he explained.

The family is scheduled to receive the furniture just in time for Chinese New Year.

Themed “Happy Family, Happy Lifestyle”, the contest involved families taking creative snapshots at any IBG showroom across peninsular Malaysia.

A total of 40 submissions were received and uploaded on the IBG Malaysia Facebook site to garner likes and to narrow down to 10 finalists.

The contest gave away a total of RM300,000 in product value.
