Auto company helps promote running

Toyota OutRun 2023 participants at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

After a four-year break, UMW Toyota Motor organised its second Toyota OutRun event to spread the love of running.

Around 4,300 participants turned up at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

The theme for Toyota OutRun 2023 was “All for One, Run for All”.

The idea was to transform running, which is seen as a rather individualistic sport, into a more collective pursuit for the whole community.

The first edition in 2019 was inspired by the Tokyo 2020 Olympics campaign called “Start Your Impossible” which encouraged everyone to challenge themselves.

It attracted more than 3,000 participants with proceeds going to the Paralympic Council of Malaysia.

UMW Toyota Motor president Ravindran K said, “We are delighted with the overwhelming response for the second Toyota OutRun.

“As part of our corporate social responsibility commitment, we partnered with National Cancer Society Malaysia for this year’s initiative.

“All registration proceeds of about RM170,000 will be donated to the society,” he said at the event.

Aside from the 5km and 10km races, Toyota OutRun 2023 featured other activities like workshops.

Participants were also entertained by artiste De Fam as well as an appearance by Toyota Yaris ambassador Janna Nick.
