Volleyball tourney winners take home RM42,000 in cash prizes

The 2022 Malaysia Volleyball League (MVL) championship was organised by the Shah Alam City Council and Malaysian Volleyball Association (MAVA).

Held at the Section 4 Volleyball Hall in Shah Alam, the tournament saw participation from Selangor, Johor, Sarawak, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya as well as the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Fire and Rescue Department.

The championship’s objective was to produce active youths and introduce Shah Alam as a sports city.

Selangor Lion successfully brought home the championship title by beating Sabah Rhino 3-0.

Both teams walked away with RM20,000 and RM10,000, respectively.

In third place was Putrajaya Hawks, which won RM8,000, while the Dragon Fire Brigade took home RM4,000 in fourth place.

The cash prizes amounted to RM42,000.

Present at the prize-giving ceremony were Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Shah Alam mayor Datuk Zamani Ahmad Mansor and MAVA president Hean Boon Yeow.
