Broad horizons

UNLIKE many charity events, proceeds from paintings sold at Art for Nature are split equally between the artists and WWF-Malaysia, Angela Hijjas explains.

“I work a lot with artists, and I have seen too many well-meaning charities who approach them and ask for artwork to auction at one of their charity events. There are certainly some high-flyers (among the artists) out there, but many (artists) are struggling to survive. Selling paintings is not an easy thing to do, especially now that we have yet to figure out the impact of the economic recession on the industry.
