GOWNS and jewels sparkled on the catwalk and at the tables at the Red Ribbon Gala 2006, held at Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur last Sunday. But what continued to glow after those gems had been put away was the fact that glamour had a big hand in leading the fundraiser organised by the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF).
More than RM2mil was raised at the gala from the auction of a men’s watch and a ladies’ diamond pendant by Chopard, and a Mercedes Benz R350, as well as the delivery of two songs each by guest-of-honour Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
