‘Boat’ singers overpowered

THE musical started off on an energetic, upbeat note. The Canticle Singers ran onstage and burst into lively song, smiling and striking poses. Unfortunately that was the highpoint of the evening. 

As the minutes dragged by, Refugess: Images, the Musical became increasingly difficult to watch and listen to. The Canticle Singers performed their songs with enthusiasm, but they were frequently overpowered by the music. This was possibly the fault of poor sound system, but it proved to be the least of the Singers’ worries as it became evident that they were not up to the task of a show that required them to act as well as sing.
