Nein, Germans don’t spook

It’s Halloween tomorrow, and our columnist wonders if she will encounter little ‘witches’ or ‘ghouls’ in Germany, a country where people are too rational to believe in otherworldly stuff and can see right through the commercialism.

I STILL recall a relaxed evening spent with German friends. The wine was flowing and the talk drifted easily from one topic to another. Eventually, as the chatter died down, I suggested, “Hey, let’s swap ghost stories!”
