Foo Fighters album Sonic Highways, released last year, was recorded in eight US cities, with each track featuring a local musical legend. An accompanied HBO miniseries followed the band as it travelled the country to make what lead singer Dave Grohl called "a love letter to the history of American music".
In an interview with NME, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins said Grohl "wants every record we make from now on to have some sort of concept around it."
