US pop artiste CAPPA has just released a new single, In The Morning, that's getting her recognition as an emerging artiste to watch as she prepares to release an EP next month.
Who: CAPPA first began making music under her full name, Carla Cappa. She dropped the debut album You Never Got Me in 2009, followed two years later by the single My Heart Is Beating Again, and she sang backup vocals with Passion Pit for the band's live VEVO session the same year.
A month ago she launched her new project, and with it, a new moniker.
Why the buzz: As CAPPA, the artiste has released two singles so far of her electro pop, which is getting praise for both her breathy, sultry voice and the music's progressive feel.
Writing of first single Hush, The Joy Of Violent Movement noted the track's "introspective nature", saying it "reveals CAPPA as part of a trend of artistes who are actively attempting to change how electronic-based pop sounds and looks, as her work, much like several contemporaries, manages to be both cinematic and intimate."
Blahblahblahscience said of the CAPPA's latest track: "Checking in stylistically somewhere between Banks and Chelsea Lankes with a dash of progressive electro production tossed in, In The Morning is a relevant bit of forward-thinking pop that we like a lot."
What to listen to: You can find Hush and In The Morning on SoundCloud. A self-titled EP is headed out in May. Hush is also available on iTunes. — AFP Relaxnews
