She sings, acts, composes, plays several musical instruments, and is a rising star.
While Kelly Yu Wen Wen is multi-talented, it’s her lovely complexion and attitude that has landed her the role as spokesperson for Taiwan’s cosmeceutical skincare brand, For Beloved One.
Relatively new in the market, the brand was founded in 2011 by Margaret Wu, a cosmetics editor for over two decades.
The brand is known for its use of bio-cellulose – a biomedical material that is used as artificial skin and cardiovascular repair material – in its facial mask, which was introduced at the end of 2003 and claims to provide better absorption and hydration.
Yu, 25, follows in the footsteps of Taiwanese actresses Andrea Chen and Mandy Wei, past ambassadors for the brand, all picked for their beauty, influence, poise and appeal.
A Canadian, Yu was born in Dalian in China and moved with her parents to Canada when she was young, and subsequently to Boston, where she attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
She shot to fame after taking part in Duets China – the Chinese version of the ABC singing competition reality show, Duets – and playing the lead role of Chinese-Korean romantic drama TV series One and A Half Summer in 2014.
Yu describes herself as a beauty junkie who enjoys exploring different skincare products and said she fell in love with the brand after using the Melasleep Whitening Bio-Cellulose Mask.
“I was surprised by the results. The mask brightened my skin tone and I use it every time before my concerts and photo shoot!” Yu said in a press statement, adding that she believes that “flawless skin helps create the perfect make-up look.”
According to Wu, “Yu’s delicate face, exquisite grace and confidence represent modern women’s image. Her talents and determination in pursuing perfection in music is in line with our brand’s spirit.
“We are very optimistic about her star potential and she is exactly the image our brand wishes to portray.”
