The sky in George Town will transform into a dazzling spectacle from Feb 13 to 15 during the Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, held at the Polo Ground.

Since launching in 2015, this two-day festival, organised by AKA Balloon, has become one of Penang’s most popular events.

About 15 balloons of varying shapes and designs will soar above the city, flown by teams from Malaysia as well as the Netherlands, Belgium and the United States.

Besides that, visitors can also enjoy tethered balloon rides, which offers a bird’s-eye view of the city and beyond, or experience the “cold inflation” walk, where you get to step inside a balloon filled with air.

You can take part in workshops and hands-on activities, too.

If you are planning a trip to Penang, be sure to include this event in your itinerary.

The hot air balloon fiesta is one of two hot air balloon events in Malaysia, the other one being the Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.
