At a time when global travel has come to a standstill, the world’s oceans might seem like the place of pure freedom for anyone with a boat. But two Austrians anchored in French Polynesia during lockdown see it differently.
Doris Renoldner, 52, and Wolfgang Slanec, 64, call themselves sea nomads: In 1989 they set off on their first circumnavigation of the world, followed by another seven years on the ocean in 2002, writing about their experiences on a blog.
