Next month, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is putting the spotlight on a seemingly unlikely pairing, revealing the influence that Vincent van Gogh had on David Hockney and examining themes such as nature and bright colours that are common to both artists’ work.
Playing a central role in Hockney - Van Gogh- The Joy of Nature, which will feature 120 works in all, will be Hockney’s monumental Yorkshire landscapes, including his imposing work The Arrival Of Spring In Woldgate, East Yorkshire In 2011.
