Malaysia should look East to become tourism nation

On Sept 6, disaster struck Japan’s Hokkaido Island. After a massive earthquake, the Japanese government immediately offered US$135mil (RM562mil) to help revitalise local economies, particularly the tourism sector.

In line with that, the northern prefecture governor, Harumi Takahashi, has invited tourism pioneers to have a closed dialogue with her today. She has obtained full authority from Japan’s central government to reconstruct the prefecture’s economy, especially in the service industries.
