The skies of Macao will be lit up with vivid colours at the upcoming 29th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest. Ten pyrotechnic teams are presenting spectacular fireworks displays synchronised to music and laser lights within a multimedia experience.

This year, the festival will be staged above the sea area overlooked by the Macau Tower on Sept 1, 8, 15, 24 and Oct 1.

Organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the annual event will host a carnival-like atmosphere with culinary delights, lively performances and fun games. The festival will next to the Macau Tower from 5pm to 11pm every fireworks evening.

As for the pyrotechnics portion, the contest will pit world-renowned teams from the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Belgium, France, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Italy and China.

The firework display will feature five themes – Magical Colours in Harmony, A Mystified Fireworks Dream, Shining Voices of Heaven, A Sparkling Mid-Autumn Night and National Day Fireworks Celebration.

For the best vantage points, MGTO recommends the following venues: Shoreline overlooked by the Macau Tower, Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre, Macao Science Center, shoreline in Taipa, top of Penha Hill and Anim’Arte Nam Van.
