Syed Abdul Rahman said the Matta Fair Selangor Carnival 2018 will highlight tourism products in Selangor.

Avid travellers in the Klang Valley will soon have not one, but two travel fairs to hunt down holiday packages. The Selangor chapter of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) will be hosting the inaugural Matta Fair Selangor Carnival (MFSC). The event will take place from July 27 to 29 at the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) in Serdang.

Matta Selangor chairman Datuk Syed Abdul Rahman Al Habshi said the event will give a more prominent platform to highlight tourism products in Selangor, in addition to other travel packages.

“We will have 150 booths at the fair. Priority will be given to licensed tour agents, national and state tourism organisations. Some attractions in Selangor are sometimes overlooked and we will try to promote them,” he said.

Syed Abdul Rahman said the Matta Fair Selangor Carnival 2018 will highlight tourism products in Selangor.

Syed Abdul Rahman added that the state-level fair will iron out some of the kinks at the national Matta Fair held in Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur.

One issue in particular at PWTC is the shortage of parking, he said.

“PWTC has parking problems, with some cars sometimes being towed away,” Syed Abdul Rahman said, adding that MAEPS provide ample parking space.

Matta Selangor is also collaborating with Tourism Selangor at the MFSC.

Tourism Selangor general manager Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din said the event will be a good platform to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2020.

“Many don’t know our own products because they look to overseas products. However, we cannot forget about the domestic tourists in the country,” she said.

Noorul Ashikin added that visitors to the Tourism Selangor pavilion will be able to learn more about new Selangor attractions such as Sky Mirror and Bangi Wonderland.

In addition to that, she said RM1 will be donated to Tabung Harapan Malaysia for every sale at the Tourism Selangor pavilion.

Matta Selangor expects 70,000 visitors at this year’s Matta Fair. The MFSC is open from 10am to 9pm at indoor Hall D.
