If you were in Bali up to the early 1990s, you would know it wasn’t as developed and chock-full of tourists – of varying loudness – then as it is now.
Well, Bali in those days is kind of like Lombok now where there is only one spot on the main island that can be considered the main tourist strip – Senggigi. It used to be “party central” of Lombok but it has now been upstaged by Gili Trawangan and its two sister islands on the north-west coast.
