Nambook fest welcomes Malaysian authors with open arms

Visitors to the Nambook festival display the results of their Malaysian-style handicrafts at the Malaysia pavilion.

The romantic tree-lined avenues of Namiseom (or Nami Island) in Chuncheon, South Korea, framed a rather unusual sight last month when the island played host to a traditional Malay kampung house.

Complete with batik hangings and traditional Malaysian games, the “house” was actually Malaysia’s pavilion at the annual Nami Island International Children’s Book Festival (Nambook).
