The popular travel fair will be back next month, and the organising committee plans to enable the public to show their support for Malaysia Airlines.
IT’S that time of the year when travellers are spoilt for choice at a one-stop centre to get the best travel deals.
Yes, Matta is back, from Sept 5 to 7, at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
The largest consumer travel fair in South-East Asia hopes not only to draw visitors but also rekindle their childhood joy when they hunt for travel packages and travel-related products and services.
For the first time, the Matta Fair committee is venturing into the idea of enriching visitors’ experience by incorporating iconic fictional characters like Hello Kitty and Doraemon, and a mini theme park.
There will also be a dedicated domestic tourism hall.
“Matta Fair has been bringing travellers together for 24 years for moments of joy and anticipation when they shop for travel packages,” said committee member Datuk M. Ali.
“Moments of happiness can define our lives. Our message – “Spread the message of joy” – is crucial as we are throwing our support behind Malaysia Airline Systems Berhad.
“We are dedicating booths for the public to show their encouragement and care by hanging wishing cards on specially prepared wishing trees.”
Ali adds that Tourism Malaysia will be occupying spacious booth areas to promote domestic tourism, so the people can come and find out some local hidden gems.
“We are also spreading the joy by working with a number of charities, such as MAKNA, and the Selangor and Federal Territory Association For The Mentally Handicapped, by giving them free booths, “ Ali explains.
