My hidden Washington, DC

Monuments and 'non-iconic' buildings tell a story about a place as well as the famous touristy spots.

I LOVE walking the streets of Washington, DC. Sometimes I turn a corner to discover a surprising and little-known site or monument. On a recent afternoon, I took photographs of my favourite spots and new finds. These places aren’t as grandiose as the most popular sites – such as the Lincoln Memorial or Smithsonian museums – but they remind us of historical figures and their contributions, which can be just as satisfying to contemplate.
