The pinnacle of watchmaking

Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2025 award nominees’ world tour stop in Shanghai at Bund 33.

Finalists of the watch industry’s biggest awards show have been revealed!

The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Foundation shared the official list of 90 timepieces nominated for the 25th edition of the GPHG, as well as the stages of its World Tour for the nominees.

This year, 1,050 members of the GPHG Academy selected 84 watches and six clocks from among the 302 models submitted by 184 brands.

Divided into 15 categories, these exceptional timepieces will then compete for one of the 20 prizes awarded to the year’s most beautiful watch creations, including one timepiece that will take home the coveted “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix.

The GPHG is also celebrating a double anniversary this year: 25 years of watchmaking excellence and five years of its Academy that has now passed the symbolic threshold of 1,000 members.

Founded in 2020, the GPHG Academy unites passionate experts keen to contribute to watchmaking’s global influence.

It plays a central role in the selection process for watches in competition, whereby its members − operating by a co-optation process − begin proposing eligible timepieces in spring, subject to brands’ confirmation.

In summer the Academy members then nominate six finalists per category before the Jury, comprising 30 Academy members, select the winners in autumn.

For this 25th edition, the GPHG is reintroducing the “Mechanical Clock” category.

In addition, calendar complications are now included in the “Men’s Complication” category.

The Eco-innovation Prize, launched in 2024, is maintained.

Ahead of the award ceremony, the nominated watches will be exhibited in China, Turkey and Switzerland, before heading to Dubai − post-award − where the winning models will be presented.

As a partner in the first stage of the 2025 World Tour, Hantang Culture will host the exhibition in Shanghai at the historical Bund 33 from Sept 29 to Oct 8, during Golden Week.

Committed to promoting cultural exchanges between East and West, Hantang Culture is supporting the GPHG in showcasing Swiss watchmaking excellence in China.

The tour will continue to Istanbul from Oct 15 to 20, for a unique exhibition organised with the Turkish fashion group Vakko in its private hotel on the banks of the Bosphorus, a first in Turkey.

Offering the public an unmatched overview of the creativity of contemporary watchmaking – a jewel in the crown of Swiss culture and industry – these first two exhibitions also provide the ideal setting in which to celebrate this year’s anniversaries of friendly diplomatic relations between these two participating countries and Switzerland.

Geneva’s Musée d’Art et d’Histoire will, in turn, welcome the nominated timepieces from Oct 29 to Nov 16 to its historic premises.

As part of this event, wide-ranging cultural outreach programme will be offered to the public and schools.

As the final stop on the tour, Dubai Watch Week will honour the 2025 winners from Nov 19 to 23, after the 25th awards ceremony.

The 2025 winners will be announced on Nov 13 at the GPHG Awards ceremony held at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva and broadcast live on www.gphg.org
