Glamour in full force at Cannes

After a year’s hiatus, film stars and fashion icons returned to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, the first major film festival to take place “in person” since the pandemic hit.

While many parties have been cancelled or scaled back to meet social distancing requirements, famous personalities came out for this year’s opening film, the musical film Annette starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard and written by Sparks’ Ron and Russell Mael.

Model Bella Hadid turned up in a white vintage Jean Paul Gaultier gown, which featured a black sheer veil which doubled as a cross-halter neckline and train.

Award-winning actress Jessica Chastain wore a black lace Christian Dior gown which she accessorised with ruby and diamond-embellished jewellery from Chopard, while actress and producer Maggie Gyllenhaal turned up in a simple yet chic off-white silk dress from Celine by Hedi Slimane.

Acting legend Dame Helen Mirren was a vision in a warm yellow dress by Dolce & Gabbana, pairing her outfit with a necklace made up of stunning emeralds and diamonds.

Actress Diane Kruger looked elegang in a black halter gown by Armani Privé, while Oscar winner Jodie Foster wore a white Givenchy dress, glittering with silver-studded accents.

Italian-French singer, songwriter, model and former France first lady Carla Bruni turned up in a baby blue one-strapped gown by Celine, and supermodel-actress Eva Herzigova kept it simple in a white, ruffled halter top from Alberta Ferretti, paired with black sequined pants.

Ola Farahat, an Emirati fashion blogger took to the red carpet in a bright orange Alberta Ferretti strapless gown and German blogger Leonie Hanne looked radiant in a gown from Nicole + Felicia.
