From their humble beginnings as a mother and son team lugging furniture to a market in Sydney, Australia, King has come a long way.
With a legacy spanning over 40 years, the globally-renowned furniture company pays homage to its rich history and Australian heritage underpinning the brand.
The leading furniture brand looks to the future with authenticity with Australian design, sustainability and flexibility at the forefront.
“From the beginning we weren’t content to just make ordinary furniture. We wanted to make better furniture. Furniture that would last. Knowing that your furniture will last the test of time, we think that’s very important,” says David King, founder of King.
“We deliberately avoid unnecessary ornamentation. We like to keep a clean aesthetic to our furniture so that our product will stand the test of time. In fact, a lot of the products we made in the 70s and 80s still look good today,” David adds.
Drawing inspiration from the Australian essence, King shares a signature style with the creative world, signalling a true coming of age for Australian design, innovation and collaboration.
Featuring an iconic pared-back aesthetic to make way for the intentional, coupled with an ethos focused on quality and flexibility, King continues to lead the charge in innovative design and longevity.
“It’s integral to know that our furniture will last for generations. When you sit down on King furniture, it’s almost a feeling of weightlessness,” he says.
David grew to understand how furniture works by learning with his mother, Gwen King, at the back of their home.
Examining the structural integrity of design by visiting opportunity shops, and studying the wear and tear of vintage furniture, David began developing the revolutionary innovation that King is famous for, their engineered steel frames.
With an unrivalled 25-year warranty, these frames are what give King sofas their renowned flexibility, comfort, and support.
True to the brand’s unwavering focus on sustainability and durability, they continue to offer the ability to recover its sofas, breathing new life into much-loved family pieces.
Customers can invest in a piece of King furniture, with the confidence that it will be enjoyed for a lifetime, passed down from generation to generation.
Renowned for structural integrity and lasting personal comfort, King has been bringing authentic Australian designed furniture to Malaysian homes for almost three years now, with showrooms located in Bangsar and IPC Shopping Centre.
King has adapted its customer experience by offering virtual and personalised showroom consultations to its clients, enabling them to shop from the comfort and safety of their homes.
