NYX Professional Makeup collaborates with makeup artist Ve Neill to create six cool Halloween looks.

NYX Professional Makeup has teamed up with makeup artist Ve Neill to dream up some nightmarish beauty looks, just in time for Halloween.

The colour cosmetics brand has joined forces with the creative to launch "Wonderland After Dark,' a twist on beauty looks inspired by the classic tale of Alice In Wonderland.

Beauty fans too scared to commit upfront will be able to test out the terrifying looks virtually from this month, via the NYX Professional Makeup website.

Neill – who is known for her work on movies such as A Star is Born, Hunger Games and Beetlejuice – has come up with six different looks, each one inspired by a different character from the story and accompanied by an exclusive digital tutorial and a specific, shoppable makeup bundle.

Each character interpretation includes the new NYX Professional Makeup Glow-On Lip Gloss, a blacklight-activated hue that transforms into a high-shine, neon pigment.

The looks include a joker called "Ace & Spade", a zombie called "Alex" and a twisted rabbit called "Bunni". A vampire titled "The Queen", a skull called "Topsy-Turvy" and a psychedelic feline called "Kitty Kat" complete the lineup.

"Ve Neill is the ultimate definition of a true professional makeup artist," said Yann Joffredo, global brand president at NYX Professional Makeup, in a statement. "As a brand rooted in professional artistry for all, we are thrilled to take our long-standing relationship to the next level with this exclusive collaboration. Wonderland After Dark represents our limitless commitment to the aspiring artistry community as the #1 accessible professional brand."

NYX has a well-known penchant for artistic collaborations: the label has previously launched collections with TV star and drag queen Aquaria (real name Giovanni Palandrani) and vlogger Alissa Ashley. — AFP Relaxnews
