Malaysian jeweller Habib is celebrating the country’s 62nd Independence Day early. A grand exhibition is currently being held at Suria KLCC until Aug 11.

Visitors will be able to view a special display of heritage jewellery. This is in addition to the latest Merdeka designs, the highlight of which being a long chain tassel necklace made out of various gemstones and diamonds.

The grand launch held last week drew special guest appearances. They included Malaysian beauty queens, the current Miss Universe Malaysia, Shweta Sekhon, and Miss Habib, Nikita Menon, alongside famous Malaysian artistes Mawi and Rozita Che Wan with her daughter, Aaisyah Dhia Rana.

A fashion showcase saw models walking the runway in Malaysian national outfits such as baju kebaya, baju kurung, cheongsam and saree by Salikin Sidek, while wearing jewellery collections with the national flag colours.

Guests were also treated with a special performance by Mawi. The Jalur Gemilang song is sung in full spirit by all attendees at the event. Malaysian celebrities were also seen joining in the fun, celebrating the memorable occasion.

“Independence is about realising the true meaning of Merdeka where we are all able to live comfortably and appreciate our freedom in making daily choices realised by our forefathers,” Habib Group managing director Datuk Sri Meer Habib stated.

Quoting Tunku Abdul Rahman, he said, “We are all Malaysians and this is the bond that unites us. Let us always remember that unity is our fundamental strength as people and as a nation.”

A “Habib Merdeka Sales” is running until Sept 2 to commemorate 62 years of Malaysia’s independence. Habib will be having offers in all its 30 showrooms nationwide to mark the occasion.
