The girly look may not be every woman’s cup of tea. But with the right wardrobe choices, you can make it work. Just inject a little coolness into your outfit by mixing and matching different elements. Designers have all experimented with the look on runways. It has been kind of an obsession too, with feminine pieces thrown together in a party of prints, colours and textures.

Want to know how you can do the same? Here are some suggestions to help you kick things off.

The Look

Burberry.
Kate Spade.
Michael Kors.

Modernity is the key to looking polished and pretty. Think demure but with an urban spin. Also, ground all that prettiness with texture and dimensions. You can contrast the softness with a hard edge, too. Lace is an easy option although it is easy to go overboard with the material. To prevent yourself from appearing dull, keep your hemline long and your silhouette floaty.

The Colour

Jimmy Choo.
Giuseppe Zanotti.

Not a fan of pink? Choose deeper, darker shades of the colour like rosewood, magenta and rouge. These give an outfit a richer feel, while still maintaining femininity and softness. Pale pinks in the form of pastels work extremely well in bringing out femininity. Unlike fuschia or bubblegum, they don’t appear so much as “in your face”, yet still subtly stylish.

The Styling

Gucci.
Tory Burch.
Saint Laurent.

Accessorising a feminine look is easy with the right know-how. Pretty accessories can appear fierce when paired correctly – especially when they come decorated with just the right amount of bling. When it comes to choosing prints and patterns, look to splashes of vibrant colour. Art decor designs are always cute, and function to bring out your personality. They can be great conversation starters too. Do remember that small bags will look sweet. As are extraordinarily detailed and amazingly adorable arm candies. Just select a cute one to freshen up and complete your outfit.

The Vibe

feminine
Victoria's Secret.

At the end of the day, femininity is about how you feel. A little confidence boost will work wonders. It puts a spring in your step, and helps you pull off the feminine, cool trend. The secret? Fragrance. Floral scents are perfect, especially those that combine sweetness with velvety richness. One spray, and you will feel like you can take on the world – one pink-clad foot at a time.
