You can be properly groomed from head to toe, but if people start avoiding you because of your body odour, then all your grooming is wasted.

It’s natural to sweat and the truth is sweat doesn’t produce smell. It is the bacteria that lives off the sweat on our body that causes body odour.

When the bacteria breaks down sweat into smelly fatty acids, odour is released.

To avoid giving off an odour, most will reach for a deodorant or anti-perspirant.

“The difference between a deodorant and an anti-perspirant is a deodorant inhibits the growth of bacteria while an anti-perspirant stops the sweating.

“Preventing sweat is not right as sweating is a natural body function,” says Sharon Wong, general manager of Total Image Regional Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

The Total Image Smelly No More Roll On Deodorant has been in the market for 19 years and is one of the top 10 deodorant brands locally, according to Wong.

Established in 1984, Total Image has been manufacturing and marketing beauty and slimming products for over 30 years.

They have just launched the new Total Image Smelly No More Spray, that provides the same benefits as the roll-on, but with a convenient dispenser.

“We are launching the spray now because of customers’ feedback. They wanted something more convenient than a roll-on deodorant. Customers also want a spray that can be easily and hygienically shared,” Wong says.

The new Total Image Smelly No More Spray keeps odour at bay and helps moisturise skin.

The spray, available at leading and major independent pharmacies, is made from natural mineral salts sourced from Thailand.

Its ingredients include deionised water, potassium aluminium sulfate, magnesium chloride, potassium sulfate, and sodium chloride.

The brand claims that the product is all natural, water-based and free of harmful chemical, alcohol and fragrance.

Wong says they are launching the spray now because of customer feedback, of wanting a deodorant that was more convenient to use.

According to Wong, they are in the midst of getting the halal certification from the Ministry of Health.

“The additional benefit of the spray is the moisturising function. It is suitable for teens to adults.”

She adds that the best time to use the spray is after a shower, on dry skin and on body odour prone areas such as under arms, foot, neck, behind knees, etc.

How long does the moisturisation last?

“Twenty-four hours and it is recommended that you use it twice a day after your shower. The texture is not sticky and it’s fast drying,” she says.

“Unlike other products, The Total Image Smelly No More Spray (and roll on) does not darken the armpit.”

Since it’s made of mineral salts, she advises against spraying on broken skin as it will sting.

Deodorant is the first category of product under the brand’s personal care range, but the company is expanding its personal care range and working on a feminine hygiene product, says Wong.
