At the sight of Cartier’s new high jewellery collection, believe your eyes, for this is no illusion: Every single piece in the Magicien collection is spellbinding.
In this collection, Cartier transforms sublime stones and precious materials into creations worth marvelling at – diamonds, emeralds, rubellites, beryls, blue or green sapphires are worked into designs which evoke an aura of mystery.
Explosive, vibrant and opulent, it is a collection that includes earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces, many of which can be worn several ways by removing certain pieces – a feature that will appeal to style enthusiasts who enjoy getting more mileage out of their jewellery.
A key piece in the collection is the Incantation necklace, which can be transformed with a simple touch.
The platinum necklace, as if by magic, can have its length and dimensions changed into a more intimate piece, fitted closer to the neck, and opened out. A removable sapphire is fastened onto the corolla of the unfolded necklace which when detached, the stone can be mounted onto a ring.
For the Quetzal range, Cartier drew inspiration from the mythical Aztec creature, the sacred feathered serpent which bridges earth and sky.
Tiny links paved with diamonds sit alongside exquisitely delicate feather-scales, while raised shadows of black lacquer evoke the creature’s serpentine flexibility. At the centre of it all sits a beautiful sugarloaf rubellite.
With many more tricks up their sleeve, Cartier continues to dazzle with a collection that is stunning, extraordinary and innovative.
