Can someone indulge in non-stop shopping and not be broke or bored at the end of it? It all seems possible with the Malaysia Year End Sale.

TIS the season to be shopping till you’re dropping, especially from Nov 16, 2013 to Jan 5, 2014, when one of the biggest retail therapy fever hits the country.

While there are three main shopping campaigns every year – the 1Malaysia GP Sale (March-April), the 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival (June-Sept) and the 1Malaysia Year End Sale, the latter, which is held in conjunction with KL Fashion Week – is one of the biggest.

“Last year, Malaysia garnered several international recognitions. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital city, ranked fourth in CNN’s survey on the Top 10 Best Shopping Cities in the World, ahead of well-established shopping hubs such as Paris, Hong Kong and Dubai. The top three best shopping cities in the world were New York, London and Tokyo, respectively,” says the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz.

He adds that the government’s efforts to further strengthen Malaysia’s position as a shopping haven in this region have borne fruit, thanks to the support of the retail industry players and a fashion forward partnership with the United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI) agency to feature leading British fashions and retail brands.

“The retail scene in Malaysia has seen a revival in recent years as more modern malls are being built to meet the needs of luxury markets, and discerning tourists and shoppers to the country. Malls no longer offer just products but also a full-scale experience in terms of entertainment, and food and beverages.”

The sale is also a good kickstart for Visit Malaysia 2014.

But less talk, more shop, is philosophy du jour if you’re planning to get a headstart. And since Malaysia has more than 320 shopping malls, picking the right one can be a daunting task. To help you along your way, here’s our list of the Klang Valley’s top malls:
