Bubur lambuk is a quintessential Malay porridge meal during the month of Ramadan in Malaysia. It is usually cooked as a community food and served at mosques to the congregation to break their fast. In this exclusive video for FCX (Features Central Exclusive), chef Sabri Md Soid from The Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur shares his exquisite five-star recipe for the hearty dish.
Sabri, 42, hails from Seberang Perai, Penang. His culinary career includes the kitchens at The Andaman and Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa in Penang, and Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur. He was also a guest judge on the cooking competition TV show MasterChef Malaysia (Season 1) back in 2011.
He's been with The Royale Chulan for seven years now and is the executive chef of the hotel's own bubur lambuk. Sabri says he sampled recipes from across Malaysia and cherry-picked the spices to perfect his version of the dish. He says his bubur lambuk is so good, "I can eat two bowls. I think two bowls of my bubur lambuk is just enough for me."
