When theatre company Theatrethreesixty first announced it would be doing part one (Millennium Approaches) of the Pulitzer-winning play Angels In America last year, the news was met with a mixture of excitement and apprehension.
Could such a thing be done? Tony Kushner’s epic play, after all, was known for its heavy themes, American references and surreal images that could be hard to pull off on stage. Not only that, but the show was three hours long! Would local audiences be able connect with it?
