Popular Malaysian comedian Acappan died this morning (Sept 14) at his home in Puchong surrounded by family members. He was 63.
Samynathan Rethinam, better known by his stage name Acappan, succumbed to kidney failure.
A popular artiste in the 1980s, Accapan made his name through the RTM sitcom Santan Berlada in which he starred alongside Baharudin Darus, Khairul Azhar, Fauziah Nawi and Ali Mamak. His last movie was Mamak Cupcake in 2014.
Celebrities who grew up watching Accapan's TV shows and movies have taken to social media to express their condolences.

Acappan is survived by his wife and three children.
