I was familiar with Khalid Salleh, the medicine seller at “Benteng”, Kuala Lumpur back in the early 1970s. I used to watch him “perform”. He was no ordinary medicine seller.
There was something about him that attracted me to him. So, too, my friends from Anak Alam (literally “Children of Nature”), an artiste community residing at an old bungalow (known as Rumah JKR 905) next to Padang Merbok.
