Two years after Mariah Carey’s relationship with Australian billionaire James Packer lost its shine, she’s now selling her engagement ring.
According to the New York Post, a source said the ring was sold to a jeweller in Los Angeles for US$2.1mil (RM8.4mil) even though it was bought for a rumoured US$10mil (RM40mil). The diamond ring is said to be 35-carat.
After they split up, Packer, 50, had reportedly asked for its return, though the settlement they negotiated allowed her to keep it. Downplaying any notion that Carey, 48, is in need of money, her publicist told the Page Six entertainment portal:
“Mariah has been very vocal recently about her choice to move forward in her life surrounded by positivity. That requires leaving emotional and material baggage behind, including an old engagement ring from an ex-boyfriend.”
