Three local personalities were chosen recently to take part in a new seeding campaign with Kate Spade New York (KSNY).

The idea was to bring to life the archetype Kate Spade girl with colour and charisma, where the women would share their lifestyle and inspire others through social media.

Carrying the tagline Bringing The Interesting Life, To Life, the campaign in Malaysia kicked off in April with Rozie Mastor, Tengku Chanela Jamidah and Shir Chong.

The trio selected outfits that best represented them from the Spring/Summer 2015 collection and the result was an interesting look at at how they styled their outfits accordingly.

Rozie Mastor: The savvy businesswoman

Rozie Mastor wears several hats: she runs her own businesses, Asian Potions Sdn Bhd and online portal www.thelife-style.com, and she’s also an events, marketing and PR consultant.

She also travels frequently and is considered one of the more stylish women in Kuala Lumpur.

“I am very curious by nature and I do try to live my life to the fullest,” she said when asked why she felt she was chosen for this campaign.

She describes the brand as “multidimensional, playful and sophisticated”, and says she particularly likes KSNY’s “Heritage fit and flare” dresses and shirt dresses.

With dresses and skirts equipped with pockets, the always playful and functional KSNY proves to be a practical choice for Rozie, who is in her 30s, as she seems to always find herself looking for her phone or business cards.

“The pockets allow me to do other things with my hands,” she said while laughing.

In terms of interesting aspects of Rozie’s life, she shares that she has always loved reading and art since she was a young child, and her social media friends would see this through the quotes or visuals she posts.

Looking through her various instagram and twitter postings, Rozie can be seen in various locations abroad with “outfit of the day” (#ootd) with cute dresses, handbags and shoes from Kate Spade making frequent appearances.

She plans her outfits according to her schedule and lifestyle needs and her choices are mainly dresses. This is because it can be easily worn to a meeting with a jacket or pashmina during the day, and then dressed up with additional accessories and heels for an event.

Rozie says she hopes this campaign and sharing her journey will empower and inspire women to reach for their dreams as she worked up the corporate ladder before starting her own brand and business.

“It hasn’t been an easy journey and I am still learning as I go along, but do take chances, do travel and do continuously learn, whether its through reading, traveling or experiencing the unexperienced.”

Tengku Chanela Jamidah: The super mum

Tengku Chanela Jamidah who is known for her effortless style, is a businesswoman and mother of two.

Describing herself as someone who “actively participates in and is passionate about the local fashion industry”, Chanela declares that she really only sees herself as a heroine when being a mother to her two children.

The 31-year-old Chanela, who is the founder of Curated Editions KL (CEKL), a multi-brand boutique, says maintaining a balance between work, family and social life isn’t as easy as it seems.

Her Instagram account, however, paints a different picture as images of family, travel, work and fashionable get-togethers appear to flow seamlessly.

As her life revolves mainly around her kids and work commitments, Chanela decided to break out of her own mould and try something new with Kate Spade.

While she normally goes for a monochromatic ensemble, this multi-tasker decided to be colourful, bright and happy, and chose silhouettes and styles that projected that.

With “comfort factor” being the key element, Chanela can be seen wearing a matching blue cloud print skirt and top, a classic white dress and a black dress with heart prints.

A “joyful, feminine and positive” brand, she also shares that her favourite pieces were the whimsical clutches – the rocket and tiger.

“I feel these bring a fresh look to Kate Spade which you can style with fashion pieces”, she says of those pieces seen mixed with her usual wardrobe.

Shir Chong: The style chameleon

Upcoming model and actress Shir Chong is certainly all about sharing “an enjoyable and independent yet well balanced urban lifestyle to inspire more women”.

Placing emphasis on versatility and being relevant, the 27-year-old Chong says fashion is a subjective matter as it is part of the “art” of living.

Of course, it may not seem too difficult for someone already in the fashion industry to stay ahead of the rest, but Chong says she has to keep exercising diligence and studies what she is interested in.

“It’s never necessary to blindly ‘package’ ourselves to be ‘in trend’,” she says on the matter of style.

Revealing that her favourite pieces from the brand are the lewitt margaux crop pants, garden leaves poplin skirt and madison ave rudin dress, Chong absolutely adores the carefree yet stylish approach Kate Spade has in its designs, stating, “Effortless is the word.”

With the weather, her schedule and mood taken into consideration, Chong is always on the lookout to discover inspiration around her.

She says she found it interesting that quirky quotes were printed on random clothing tags from KSNY.

“So fun, bold and chic,” she says, likening her description of the brands personality to her own persona.

A brand that is not limited in design or colour, creative styling will offer versatility for different occasions as seen in parts of Chong’s instagram images.

Immediately relating how she loved that the Spring/Summer 2015 Kate Spade campaign captured the story of women from different age groups, Chong says the label shows that dressing up is not only for the young.

“I won’t stop challenging myself to continue searching for inspiration and becoming a better person. It’s pretty amazing to find out that an established fashion label like Kate Spade New York is keeping an open mind with different aspects in life. I’m more than flattered to be a part of such meaningful campaign,” she concludes.
