Adidas has announced a partnership with the Grammy-winning musician extraordinaire Pharrell Williams.

Adidas has announced a partnership with Oscar-nominated, Grammy Award-winning superstar Pharrell Williams. It will be the first time that the sportswear brand is working with a designer who owns his own textile company.

What one can expect with this is a collaboration with Williams’ Bionic Yarn from The Vortex Project, which is an initiative with Parley For The Oceans to turn plastic debris from our seas into yarn and fabric.

Bionic Yarn is a sustainable material that is spun from recycled plastic bottles. The fibres will be used in some of Williams’ upcoming Adidas Originals products.

Williams has expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. Through a press statement, he said that Adidas’ pieces are timeless.

“Working with an iconic brand like Adidas is such an incredible opportunity. From the classic track suit, to growing up in Virginia wearing Stan Smiths, Adidas has been a staple in my life.”

Similarly, Adidas has welcomed Williams into its family and is looking forward to a long-lasting relationship with this extraordinary artist. Williams is also seen as the perfect fit for the multi-faceted company.

“I am truly thrilled to work with Pharrell. He is a pop-culture icon that never fails to inspire, not just through his musical talent and craft, but through his many other interests,” commented Dirk Schoenberger, Global creative director, Adidas sport style division.

> The first of the Adidas Originals x Pharrell Williams products is slated to debut this summer.
