Review: Helios

'You saw what I had to go through in White Storm. I can't help shouting.'

Aficionados of Hong Kong flicks didn’t have too much love for Cold War when it became a huge hit in 2012, even after it won big at the Hong Kong Film Awards. It was regarded as a solid but unspectacular thriller that benefitted greatly from veteran producer Bill Kong’s relentless marketing campaign.

Directors Longman Leung and Sunny Luk’s follow-up, Helios, is probably not going to change that perception, but the connoisseurs’ loss is the public’s gain as Leung and Luk have delivered another slick and exciting piece of entertainment that is not only going to attract audiences in droves, but will leave them satisfied as well when they walk out of the cinema.
