Aside from attending reunion dinners and visiting relatives or friends, Chinese New Year is also a time of celebration to bring in the new year. Before that, many would be busy spring cleaning and furnishing their houses with red, yellow or gold décor for prosperity.
With the Lunar New Year fast approaching, preparations are well underway at the Curve to ring in the festive season in an opulent manner. Setting the stage for a truly magnificent celebration, the Curve will usher in CNY with a Roar of Prosperity!
From Dec 31 until Jan 27, the Curve will be home to majestic, multi-coloured lions. To welcome patrons, a lion with a distinct pose will be displayed at both the North and South entrances. Families and friends can also take this opportunity to snap some Instagram-worthy photos.
Symbolising luck and prosperity, eight striking lions in various colours such as blue, pink, orange and green will take centre stage in various poses atop traditional red Chinese drums along with baby pink cherry blossom trees around the Centre Court.
Adding the final flair will be red CNY lanterns hanging from the ceiling, offering a truly festive ambiance for shoppers. There will also be two other unique photo opportunity areas available for patrons to capture lasting memories.
The décor sets the scene for the Roaring Lions Musical - a specially-choreographed live musical. Incorporating elements of an acrobatic lion dance, the strong and powerful performance will welcome Chinese New Year with a bang, together with exuberant dancers. It will definitely be a thrilling and exhilarating show for all.
Throughout the campaign period, there will also be other activities to enjoy, such as the traditional Chinese New Year melodies performed by a 3-piece instrumental band. Patrons are sure to be fascinated by the thrilling and daring stunts of the Acrobatic Lion Dance, performed by Kwong Ngai Lion Dance.
The Curve senior general manager Jazmi Kamarudin said, “The lion has always been a symbol of good luck and prosperity deeply rooted in Chinese culture. Traditionally, lion dances are held during the Lunar New Year to bring good fortune. Building on this, we wanted to give our patrons a truly immersive Chinese New Year celebration and we are confident we have done so in a unique manner through our Roar of Prosperity campaign. Our vibrant décor and thrilling musical is sure to be a perfect environment for families to gather and celebrate the auspicious occasion.”
