6 comic greats we wish were still creating comics

Golden’s greatest work will always be Avengers Annual 10, which featured the first appearances of Rogue and Madelyne Pryor.

Old soldiers never die, they just fade away. I guess the same also applies to comic talents – especially when their work rate gradually dissipates due to over-popularity or age. Alan Moore’s recent decision to “retire” from comics has got me wondering who will be next to do so, and whether there have already been more low-profile retirements that didn’t make the headlines.

Having started collecting comics in the late 1970s, I owe a debt to creators like Moore, John Byrne, Brian Bolland, George Perez, Arthur Adams and Walter Simonson for spicing up my gadget-free growing years.
