Getting crossed about crosses

Last week, a bookshop in Colorado decided to change its sign to read “Goddess Books & Gifts” following a series of attacks from idiots – I’m sorry, I meant to say “vandals”. Or “idiotic vandals”, perhaps. Before this, the sign read “Isis Books & Gifts”, which was a little too similar for some people to the acronym for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

A little over 14,000km away, the developer of a housing project in Kelibang, Langkawi submitted new design proposals to repaint the fire breaks on the roofs to match the colour of the roofs, after complaints that the existing design made it look like there were crosses on the roofs.
