The children have been better at coping with dry taps and smoky air.

TIMES of trial can be exacerbated by having children, I think. The combination of disrupted water supply and lung burning air of the past week has rendered me, the parent, defeated, tired and sporadically irrational. I confess to having entertained paranoid fantasies of an apocalypse-like scenario in the few quiet moments I occasionally have; when through some stroke of luck, all three children, umpteen pets, spouse and extended family (ailing aunt, parents and siblings with their spouses who all live within a 10 minutes drive) do not require some input from me.
