A slow and challenging start to Covid-19 measures in the United States

It has been a weird roller coaster of emotions for many of us here in the United States, as a seemingly distant viral infection has morphed into a worldwide pandemic.

It should not be surprising as the 1918 influenza epidemic killed nearly 50 million people in a world of 1.8 billion inhabitants, without the ever-increasing proximity and global connectivity of today’s world.
